Dad & Amanda landed in Japan on Thursday afternoon! We spent a rainy night in Tokyo & toured around the cloudy, but dry, city today. Tonight we got to my apartment & they're both sleeping now (10:30pm) & I'm about to go to bed too. It's super fun having them here!! We're having a great time seeing, eating, transportating (I don't think that's a word, but I wanted to keep with the -ing ;)), experiencing Japan!! They're doing amazingly well, especially considering the time difference & 13+ hour flight from the USA.
On the first train (of about 50 it seemed!) after leaving the airport

Senso-ji Temple gate, famous for the huge lantern
Okonomiyaki "make it yourself & sit on the floor' dinner -- chopsticks lessons

Dad showing off his mad "flipping" skills

This morning we walked through the temple grounds again

And went to a funky fish market
Ate buckwheat noodles with fried shrimp in soup (that we noisily slurped & drank from the bowl just like the locals!) The little sidewalk restaurant was busy over lunch so we stood at a counter next to the street to eat. Then we got to sit down to enjoy the final delicious bites.

Walked around the Imperial Palace
Took the
shinkansen (bullet train) to my town

Had a tour of & settled into my home!!

It's so cool to have them here!
